Category 4 Ida was a hurricane making landfall near Port Fourchon, La. With sustained winds of 150 mph, the hurricane was among the second-most damaging hurricanes on record to make landfall in Louisiana. Damage was widespread to utility infrastructure, homes, businesses, and natural resources. According to CoreLogic, Ida caused $18 billion in insured losses across Louisiana.

Within two days of being called by Entergy storm managers, SOS put together nearly 1,000 FTEs (including equipment) and headed for Louisiana, beginning work on August 27, 2021. Initially, SOS staged resources in Baton Rouge and then moved south another two hours, fanning out across Houma, Lockport and Golden Meadow, La. SOS crews restored distribution circuits and rebuilt infrastructure to bring power back to Louisianans in the wake of Ida’s wreckage.
